WORKSHOP GOALS:

An information-packed full day WWW accessibility workshop to help you:

• Design accessible Web pages - for EVERYONE
• Understanding the different types of access problems people face - lack of computer skills, usage styles and frequency of use (infrequent, novice, and expert users), visual and hearing impairments, physical impairments, color blindness, learning disabilities and dyslexia
• Be aware of the different tools used by different groups of users to access the Web
• Use the latest WWW applications, browsers, and tools created specifically for people with disabilities
• Understand the broad implications of the Telecommunications Act on Web Services and applications
• Get a sneak preview of the latest developments and products guaranteed to simplify WWW accessibility
• Review Web and HTML Directions
• Morning Coffee and Lunch included :)

So how do we accomplish these goals?
The objective of this workshop is to bring assistive technology consultants and professionals, Webmasters, internet service providers (ISPs), Web and Web application designers, content design engineers, and Web publishing tool designers together to collaborate on World Wide Web accessibility for people with disabilities.

The workshop program is organized as an open forum that will focus on developing a strategy for designing accessibility into the Web core environment. To accomplish this, participants will discuss Web accessibility technology that is:

• Currently available (and how to use it)
• In development (and how to access beta releases)
• Required for future development

The workshop will also specifically address the following topics:

• Electronic Document Accessibility
• Browser/Viewer Accessibility
• Standards and Guidelines
• Client/Server Accessibility
• Authoring and Publishing Tools
• Funding Proposals
